I worked at a Wal-Mart here in upstate NY.  I think the store policy of
cutting up cloths so no one could use them must have been the decision
of the store manager.  Our Wal-Mart donates these cloths to our local
Woman's shelter and the Salvation Army or the Red Cross.  They also give
the womans shelter gift certificates so that women who have to start
their lives over can purchase needed household furnishings.  It is not a
nationwide Wal-Mart policy to be wasteful.  Just thought I should stick
up for them.  We apparently have a most charitable store in our town.
