>I haven't actually seen one, but have seen pictures. In an American
magazine it appeared to be a dark but attractive reddish purple. In a
British magazine (BBC Gardeners World which I buy regularly) it looked a
very unattractive muddy colour, sort of like the rinse water goes in
primary school when you are painting with watercolours. Which is it in
real life?<
You either love "Patty's Plum" or you hate it. It's a wonderful sludgy
greyish raspberry pink with a big black centre. I've had it for several
years and I love it, but I know others who think it's an abomination!
I missed the original message on this topic, but I assume it was a
complaint about the ragged foliage of oriental poppies in the summer. I cut
the leaves off down to the ground after flowering and give the plants a
feed. Other things take over the space, but the poppies throw up new fresh
leaves later in the summer and they last all winter. I've just been out to
check and they look wonderful this frosty morning. The plants don't seem to
suffer from this treatment.
