I have read that a certain amount of color ''clash'' can be effective. I
believe Rosemary Verey wrote something like that. I have read Hobhouse's
book on color. I intend to re-read it. It is very good. I have been
mixing multi-colored roses in a rose collection, tied together by a line
of white rugosas and, this spring, a line of lavender.
