Just goes to show you how broad these USDA zones are-I too am zone 9, but in
Sunset I"m zone 14.We do get quite a bit of frost(most years) unless it's
raining-an
all too common occurance this month!!! Here in the southern end of the Napa
Valley, I succsessfully grow Peonys, Phlox, Hosta etc, but my fuschias also
overwinter !
When reading material that specifies only USDA zones I usually whip out my
trusty Western Garden book and look up the plants requirements there.
