Bulbs (foliage)

I find the tulip foliage harder to live with than the daff foliage
and often whack it back after three (maybe four) weeks -- but I do
fertilize the bulbs Fall and Spring and plant tulips very deeply. They
come back quite well.

The few times I've cut the daff foliage early (especially the single
poeticus narcissus types, which bloom so late), the flowering has been
noticeably reduced. So I try to live with it for at least six weeks or
until I see some yellowing on the leaves. Otherwise, I get clumps of
leaves with no bloom on the poeticus -- any experts on this variety out
there with further ideas?
