The best way I have heard of to deter varmits from eating you tulips,
crocus and such, is simply to plant daffodills the year before. the
toxins in them, will get into the soil. I did this and it has worked
for me. I still have all the crocus' I planted several years ago. And
yes, I still have the squirrels and voles too.
