Alicia, thanks -- I do get the White Flower Farm catalogs (they sent
me two this year, so let me know if you can't find yours!). I do get
some of my inspirations from their great pictures, although some of
their practices and prose (as well as their prices) are beginning to
annoy me. Particularly when they tout a plant or collection as "rare"
when we all know 10 sources that offer many more kinds of that plant, or
charge three times as much for a plant as another source.
They seem to be out of touch with the fact that gardeners these days
are a lot more knowledgeable and have many more sources than might
have been true when WFF was first starting out. I keep thinking about
sending them a letter to this effect, but somehow have more important
things to do -- like corresponding with the perennials group!
