Velma, I use drip irrigation in Southern California where our rainfall is
only about 14"/year on average. I highly recommend the drip lines with
emitters embedded into the line. But how much, how many, how often depends
on teh kind of soil you have, the kinds of plants you have, etc. Are your
plants grouped according to water need?

Before you do anything, I strongly recommend you look at Bob Kourick's "
Drip Irrigation for Every Landscape and All Climatesm" it's an exellent
book on drip irrigation: how to figure out what you need, how to lay it
out,and how to put it together, etc. And as we've heard in prior
discussions, DripWorks seems to be good for layout design and they are on
the web.

Good luck!
