>>Try pairing the verbena with those common orange daylilies. Talk about a
combo that draws attention! Val in KY<<
Val --
I have to tell you what a powerful image you created. Ever since you wrote
that back on June 15, whenever I've seen a clump of those ubiquitous orange
daylilies I have envisioned Verbena bonariensis dancing through it. On some
streets around here there is a clump of orange daylilies in every yard, so
this vision comes to me quite often.
The daylilies are so common that they have become rather dull and
unnoticeable. I'm tempted to play Johnny Appleseed, buy V. bonariensis seeds
in bulk and drive around throwing them at every daylily clump. That would
really perk up this town next summer! --Janis
