Re: bamboo...wasDesign issue

If you use bamboo, I'd suggest a non-running variety unless you want
your neighbor to come after you in a few years when it pops up on his
side of the fence. I don't think typar would stop it....only metal
or concrete will do the trick and that needs to go down at least two
feet, minimum.

I have bamboo - not sure which kind. Was already growing when we
created a berm about 3' tall - just dumped the soil basically in
front of the bamboo and had a railroad tie retaining wall built to
hold the soil back from the new parking area. I thought it might
kill the bamboo. Ha! Bamboo loved it. Has infiltrated half the
berm and come up in the parking area - this is like maybe 6 or 8 feet
away from where it was originally growing. Spend a lot of time these
days cutting bamboo out of places I do not want it growing. Dig up
the roots every few years...nothing stops it.

Would not be the least surprised if it wouldn't come up under your
walkway eventually...it is determined stuff.

I was thinking on bamboo, but I was concern about the
runners. Due to the hardpan, I WILL NOT put in the
effort to place a fiberglass sheild around the bamboo
to keep the roots (runners) in.

My orignal thought was Bamboo, but I thought I would
build an above ground planting box. I would make it
18" deep and what ever wide and width. I would use
typar or typex as a interior liner between the wood
and soil. I would use allot of 2x6's to make sure it
was sturdy.
