More Crayola Red Perennials

I went out mentally in the garden (I'm at work) and came across a couple of
more ideas for really red blooms:

astilbe 'Fanal'
heuchera 'Mount St. Helens' (good for the front)
oriental poppies 'Brilliant' (only early summer)
penstemon 'Prairie Fire'
pyrethrum 'Robinson's Red' (although I was disappointed with the size of
the blooms)
veronica 'Red Fox' (not as brilliant, but a nice little red at the front of
the border)

How much shade is in this particular border? If there's a lot, some of the
perennials mentioned may not perform as well. I was going to suggest using
a euonymus (burning bush) background for fall color, but you won't get any
if there's no sun. At any rate, another little trick that I learned by
reading Tony Lord is to incorporate dark foliage with the reds. It makes
the red seem deeper. Lighter foliage makes the red receed to the
background and the eye won't catch it as well.
