RE: A Question- C. Sweet Autumn

That was my impression about Sweet Autumn, yet mine died this year. It was 
only 4 years old. However, this year it wilted for the 3rd time. I cut it 
down a lot and did the Bordeaux Mix thing, but it just died out.

I did notice that the stems at ground level appear to have rotted out. The 
sow bugs were hard at work on the inside of them.  My Nelly Moser is located 
on the same fence about 4' away (not far enough away from that vigorous 
Sweet Autumn, mind you), and it's got some yellowed/ browned leaves. A local 
plant expert thought maybe Nelly was getting too much water. It's true the 
ground stays pretty moist there, and since I planted these earlier in my 
gardening career (did not plant them 3-4" below ground level, probably not 
enough sand and not a deep enough hole, etc.)....However, and take this as a 
warning too, this baby seeds around actively!  I've got spares to replace it 
with....
