Claire and all,
The boxed plants are a big business.... and for the newbie gardener, I
suppose OK.... You need to be an experienced gardener to spend the big
bucks on a plant and then kill it :) I personally prefer to purchase
plants from a somebody as in a person who can tell me about the plant.
Having said that, been known to walk thru any type store... and if it
catches my eye-- it is in the car...
So dahlia and bulb experts....
I inherited a bunch of bulbs-- everything from cannas, gladiolas,
dahlia, you name it!... Four huge boxes of boxed plants! ( The price was
right- free!)... So what should I have done with them. This is Zone 5,
and I planted them about 2 weeks ago when I received them. I realize not
a prayer in the world of ever seeing them bloom this year, but
figured... hoped... that maybe enough of the cycle would happen and the
bulbs could be used next year. My thinking was, this bulb will rot if I
try to store it till next spring....
So group.. what do you think?
