Hi Donna,
I'll keep my fingers crossed for a late frost and lots of foliage. The only thing I would do is snip any flower heads as soon as they appear.
My grandmother was into dahlias - big time and I remember one year she found one bag in "the wrong spot" in early August and planted it and kept the flower stalk from forming. I believe it did survive and bloom the following year.
