<< Well, my very first tour is over and I think was a success. It was a
grey day, great for the colors - they just pop in the diffuse light.
It may have discouraged a few people thinking it might rain, but not
No sun, a blessing. They really do look much better on a cloudy day, I would
much prefer a clouded over day, even a light rain.
<<<< Every one ooo'd and ahh'd over the daylilies down at the bottom of
my driveway, but what I got the most comments on were my perennial
selections - for the foliage and the flowers as a contrast to the
straps and rounds. I sent a few friends home with seedlings of a few
of my favorite accents ( a euphorbia I got as donkey's tail and
Chasmanthium latifolium or Sea Oats)>>>>
I hope they admired until you were bursting with pride, why else would we
have these wonderful gardens.
<<<Several of the geraniums got lots of attention - of course the one
that got the most is one I bought as "blue cranes bill" in a bargain
bin at a local nursery. It stays upright instead of flopping. The
sedums loved the weather and are huge>>>>>
You need to send cuttings of that one to everyone on this list right away.
All blue geraniums flop. If your's does not, we want some.
<<< by a purple sedum (Bertam Anderson)
a dramatic purple bitone spider against the Sea Oats grass.>>>
Anderson must have been a busy fellow, his name is on all kinds of plants. I
have a pulmonaria carryng his name and it is a longifolia, that is the best
kind.

Ramble on, a tour is a bunch of work and great boost to the gardener. One
needs that now and then. It keeps the inspiration alive. This group have
been hosting a lot of tours this summer. Congratulations to all for all the
work done, a tourer must a have a garden to tour.
