RE: tri-colored beech

I was supposed to add one to my yard this spring. Actually a present. We
had a crazy weather pattern then too. From many discussions, found they
are very temperamental to establish.

Since a large amount of money was being spent... and my curious nature,
I went to the nursery to see it. Well... it was a twig with one
branch...and two leaves. I could have lived with two leaves..
considering the time of year.. but no character with one branch...
looked like a Charley Brown tree... So... it never came here.! Some list
members suggested places that had nicer stock. But spring came and
went.. never got there.

There is a nursery in Ohio that I happened upon. They had quite a nice
selection and reasonably (well for that tree anyways) priced. But it was
90ish, had a week before I would return home... and was driving an
explorer... Thinking about going back there in the fall with a truck.
And since this is on the perennial list... that nursery had a wonderful
selection of different from my area perennial plants. Did bring home a
few dozen - and they survived in a hotel room for a week!

Moral to this story... better ask about he tree if you are shipping
it... might end up with the Charley Brown Tree.
