Re: Brugmansia

Ladies and Gent's
I just strolled outside to check the weather (hoping for some more rain tonight) and counted 29 buds on my yellow brugmansia and 15 buds and 4 blooms opened on my pink brugmansia and 1 bud on the white one. My red one is looking sick. I have just about decided it needs less sun than the other. Anyone have any advice on the red.

Donna,

It's my understanding that the red is probably Brugmansia sanguinea and that this species comes from a much cooler habitat (mountainous) than the white, yellow, or pink flowering species. That said, I'm not sure what you can do, given your summer weather. Perhaps someone else can answer that one. I haven't had good luck with the red one either, so maybe there's more to it than just the temperature.
