Wwll, I've tryed an experiment the past year. People I know who free
range their ducks seem to have less problems with Japanese beetles
becasue the ducks eat the larvae from the ground. Since I work I can't
leave my ducks out all the time, but they are out evenings and weekends.
The beetles have just come out so it is too soon to tell if this will
work. Also, I didn't start doing this until part wya trhough the summer
last year. Also I understand that you can hang the attractant in the
chicken coop and the chickens will eat the beetles when they hit the
vanes of the trap and fall down (no catcher attached). My neighbor is
palnning on puttin up traps this year. Maybe his will attrack all of my
beetles! I find they are bad on the roses, oak leaf hydrangea and
hollyhocks.
Anyone know what larva is eating the buds on my hollyhocks? The buds are
tuning brown and when I picked them apart, I found these larva.
