This Spring, I ripped out all the plastic edging that "came with the house"
when we purchased it a year ago, and made a really distinct bevelled edge with
an edging tool. I LOVE IT!  I find it makes mowing MUCH easier than with the
PVC edge because there is a 4 inch gap (sort of a ditch) between the lawn and
my garden.  It is definitely more attractive than that horrible edging - and
cheaper!  The only catch, is that I have to make sure not to plant things too
close to the edge of the garden where the soil gets very dry without anything
to retain the water.
