pansies and violas

Group:
I recently sowed pansy Skyline Mix (F1 hybrid, Pan American Seeds); viola
Purple Rain (ditto Pan Am, although PR seems to be a viola x pansy hybrid);
and Penny Lane Mix (F1 hybrid Goldsmith Seeds). Germ was very good and
quick in a mist chamber, in spite of our hot weather during the germ
period. We pricked out 11 flats of 36 seedlings yesterday, and expect to
do more over the weekend, although 396 pansies and violas should be plenty
for our needs.

I have recently spoken with the breeders of each of these varieties, and
they assure me that these will bloom winter-long in a mild climate. Is
there any one on the list who grows pansies and violas outdoors, and gets
winter-long bloom? In what state and zone do you garden? Any recommended
varieties?
