You say that you don't care for Astilbe? What poor Astilbe has offended you to
say
"AND DO NOT SAY ASTILBES! DO NOT LIKE THEM! Can you tell I don't like
astilbe? ;-)"
I happen to like Astilbe my favorites are 'Hennie Graafland' 16" which is a
sport of 'Sprite', and 'Elisabeth' 24" when they are finished flowering I cut
the old flower spikes and use them as a very nice serrate foliage. As a back
ground planting I will leave the flower spikes on varieties like 'Erica',
'Fanal' both of which grow to about 30"-36". Then there is the Queen of all
Astilbe A. 'Moerheims Glory' at 60" plus. If you don't care for one variety
dig it out throw it in the compost and replace it with another variety that
has more appeal, some even have a nice fragrance.
