Martha,
Thanks so much for the information on Gilbert H. Wild & Son!
It has been very hot here in the St. Louis area lately, too. But we have had
lots and lots of rain. (Hope you get more in Oklahoma, we would be happy to
send you some if we could.) I have only had to water my established plants
once in a month because we have had heavy rain at least twice a week. That
makes me happy because I don't like to use our tap water on my garden as it is
very alkaline due to the limestone bedrock here. (Pure water has a pH of 7,
ours is 10.4!) I have been planning to get a rain barrel so I can water my
acid-loving plants with rain water. But I haven't had to worry about it this
year.
If there are newbes reading this and dispairing -- don't. You have to be a
real nut to worry about stuff like the pH of your tap water. Most folks
around here water freely with tap water without ill effects. I do, too, when
there isn't enough rain. Almost any water is much better than no water.
