Ohhh Margaret what a thread! <g>
I moved to the Seattle area from the bright sun of the Gulf Coast. My
front yard is soft yellow & white. My backyard, on the other hand, looks
like a gypsy caravan collided with a Barnum Bailey Circus train! ha!
The enormous amounts of red, purples, fuschia, dark pinks,
yellows, various shades of blues are quite strong when mixed together.
My neighbors always come over after they've seen me unload plants, well,
a few hours after I've unloaded... I have a bed, about 4 feet deep that
goes all the way around my back yard. Different sections are grouped
with the flowers that work best for those particular areas, and I've
searched hard to find the right colors to connect those beds so everyone
"plays" well together. It is DEFINITELY eye catching, and is my
solution to the limited sunshine here!
My favorite addition to the "red zone" (as my hubby calls it) is
Crocosmia (sp?). ANyone who loves red will absolutely worship this
baby! <g>
