Not the beer, which is not in bowls, but in small tuna fish cans sunk up
to their rims in the soil under the arching leaves of the daylilies,
hosta, or whatever is under attack. I can't even see them when in place.

I have tried slug bait, but it bothers me to use it.  I also have ground
feeding birds which dart among the daylily bed (wrens) and chipmunks
which don't bother me, so I'd rather they took a sip of beer rather than
slug poison.
