Diane,

The only thing keeping armadillos out of the upper Midwest right now is the
fact that they have to keep eating to survive and they don't function well
enough to survive when the temperature drops below 32°F for any length of
time.

If armadillos ever manage to get into the Great Northwest, the temperatures
there won't stay low enough for long enough to bother them.

Uh, come to think of it...you may still be laughing.  Do they or don't they
eat slugs?
