Re: Squirrels & deer was Birds & Bugs

I have 5 bird feeders- two sunflower, one thistle, and two general
types- hanging from a type of pole I fashioned from electrical conduit.
It sort of resembles an octopus clothesline--know what I mean?. And I
bought one of those squirrel guards that looks like a section of big
silver stovepipe for the upright section of conduit. There are many
squirrels in the oaks behind the backyard and tho they've tried, they
cannot get past this device, and it's too far to jump from the nearest
tree.

On another upright feeder in the perennial bed, there is a metal saucer
type guard surrounding the pole which also seems effective. (well,
except for the year I planted a rose on a trellis too close which served
as an access route, but the rose died last year, I took the trellis
down, and the birdseed is safe once again from the greedy guts
squirrels).
