Day lilies

I accidentally deleted some of my mail today but someone, on this
list, was interested in getting some daylilies and was going to be
doing a big search. I have a favor to ask of that person.
The houses on my block were built in 1953 and the lady who lived
next door was an avid gardener. ( she died many years ago). Anyway,
she had some daylilies and one day she was thinning them and she
planted a clump in my yard. At the time I was busy with 4 little
tykes and had neither the time nor the inclination to garden. The
only thing I had were these daylilies that she planted. Over the
years I have tried to pull them out, just because I got tired of them
but to no avail. It wasn't until the last couple of years when I got
interested in gardening that I really took a look at these things and
realized that, to me at least, they are quite remarkable. The thing
is they are triple..I mean a flower within a flower within another
flower. In all the gardening books I have looked through, I have
never seen triples like these. They are bright orange and I can
personally attest to the fact that they grow in full sun, full shade,
and everything in between. You can go a whole growing season and
never water them or you can drown them in a bog and they just keep
right on blooming. I have some in good soil, some in clay and I even
have one coming up between the paving blocks of my patio. I swear
they would grow in steel, reinforced concrete.
I'll let you in on a little secret. She must have given some to the
people who live in the house on the other side of me. I'm talking
about the people whose lilac roots are invading me. They have them
growing all along the chain link fence line. They are planted on HIS
side of the fence, but all the blooms have come through and bloom on
MY side of the fence.
So-o-o, in the course of your search for day lilies, if you come
across orange triple ones, will you let me know what they are?
thanks a bunch,
Jeanne
