Autumn crocus and colchicum


That's the problem with common names! The term Autumn Crocus is commonly
used both Colchicum and fall blooming Crocus species. The blooms look
similar and bloom at similar times, but the bulbs are totally different.
The rodents here eat Crocus but leave the Cochicum alone, BTW.
