Holly & Janice
here in NE Mississippi it's not so much the drought (we've been
lucky to have had some nice showers and some pretty heavy rain at times,
not enough to brag about) we experience conditions worse, but our
biggest problem is the high heat and huidity. that is what kills
us. I have so many plants that are beginning to look shabby. I've
threaten to rip some of them out, but as of yet, I can't bring my
self to do it, but I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and carry on.
I've got several calla lilies and I planted them in pots this year and
I noticed one of mine on my front porch (which gets full sun most of the
day) the leaves are just curling inward and the edges are turning
brown. I had a pot of them in the very same spot last year and they
did wonderfully "not so this year" and so many things that did well
last year are just giving up the ghost.
we are at our peak heat and humidity season. can't hardly endure
being outside. I usually stay indoors during the period It's
miserable .
I don't have hardly anything that I would consider in good shape right
now. if they survive another month then maybe the will perk up,
but by then it will be time to start fall clean-up.
happy gardening
