hey Barb-
Congrats on the rain------we it appears will finally not get rain today--this
is good!!!
My buddleias have taken pruning very well----I did the exact same thing to my
bud a few years back and it wasn't a problem. I am know to even prune on the
top while the plant is still blooming just to give it a better
shape----bounces back quickly and blooms again in a blink of an eye. I prune
about 3-4 leaf intersections down. After pruning the bottom of the bud now
you may have to follow up every few weeks to keep the new growth from coming
back---if he's happy he will certainly try to send out new leaves. :o)
