Re: Eupatorium perfoliatum 'Jocius Variegated'
Hi Gene,
I bought this Eupatorium at the Hardy Plant Society's (HPS) plant sale last
year or maybe the year before. It seeded in this year and comes true from
seed. HPS offered it in their seed exchange in 1998-99 and described it as
follows:
"Perennnial, part sun/part shade. 3 x 3', 3.5' in bloom. White. Sept-Oct.
Attractively mottled and streaked leaves remain variegated throughout the
late summer and early fall, nicely complementing the corymbs of white
flowers which become fluffy cream seedheads. Original plant discovered by
HPS/MAG member John Jocius in Detroit. Distributed by Glasshouse Works from
his original plant. Grown in Zone 6b. No special treatment needed (for
propagation)."
Look at this link for a picture that is similar, though 'Jocius Variegata'
is not nearly as mottled as this one.

Glasshouse Works lists it differently. Their description is as follows:
81827 EUPATORIUM AROMATICUM JOCIUS' VARIEGATE COMP HT $ 6.50 New "Smaller
White Snakeroot" selection of John Jocius with lvs brilliantly frosted
creamy white, a perfect combination with the flat-topped clusters (like
"Boneset") of fuzzy white Ageratum-like blossoms; neither aromatic nor
toxic. One of the most ordered plants we have ever offered.
They have an on-line catalog at www.glasshouseworks.com
Once they have gone to seed, I would be glad to send you some.
Ginny
