plume poppies

I grew these in big barrels for a couple of years -- no winter
protection, very hardy here. Wonderful plants! When I wanted to
get rid of them to plant lilies instead, it took two years to get
all the roots out. And I had the cordata form, which is supposed to
be less running than the other (microcarpa?). They create an excellent
focal point or specimen in a large container if you don't want to give
up actual ground space. (A really large container -- at least 28 x 28.)
They seemed to like it moderately rich and damp. I thinned out the roots
each spring when I had them and they grew well.
