Hi Chris,
How about geranium Ann Folkard? It has deep magenta flowers with a black eye,
and has a low spreading habit. It's not one of the dense coverage geraniums,
rather its open and airy and the flowers tend to lie aginst and through
whatever's near. I have it wandering through the bottom of a rose, over the
resting primulas, and through a weigela. It will probably benefit from the
shade the bamboo would give it, but you may need to check what conditions it
needs for its roots.
I suspect this question will keep me thinking of combinations all night. I'm
looking forward to seeing what those on the list with an eye for shape and
colour suggest. Is it a plain or decorated container?

I'm dividing my low-growing bamboo tomorrow and wanted to know
if anyone could give me an idea of what to put with it. I keep it in a low,
wide container and would like to have something growing with it for
interest. If anyone would like a piece, postage would be fine,
it's Arundinaria humilis.
