I'm currently growing lupines as annuals, so I'd be delighted to see them survive
to a second year!   You may be onto something in that I should attempt to grow
them from seeds  rather than by purchasing small plants.   Plants grown from seed
in-place might have a better survival rate.  On the other hand, I have half a
mind to go to English Gardens and buy a full-grown one in a 2-gallon pot.  Would
be worth the $20 just to say I had lupines blooming in my garden!  ;-)
