Re: master gardeners
Hi Shelly,
This is, in my opinion, a "all depends" question. Each state has their own MG
program. Varies quite a bit from state to state on just how good the program is.
None of them, to my knowledge, are a waste of time. One of the best introductions
to good background knowledge of horticulture. I think my participation was best
served by the number of other gardeners I made contact with and got to know....
good networking. Since you do volunteer work to repay your "tuition" you also get
a chance to make contact with many local organizations from a gardening aspect.
Both experience are a big plus in my book.
A degree in Hort will get you the most money on the job.... but the MG did
open the door for my son at Home Depot.... got a job as head of the gardening
department.
As with almost any job, the more education plus experience gets you the best
position.
