I don't remember an "intense mesh-like root system" but, then again, I
never gave it a chance. The runners certainly were close to the surface.

I realized early on that, given the chance, it would take over the garden.
But I liked it, so I constantly pulled it to keep it under control.
Eventually the annoyance of constant pulling outweighed the prettiness of
the flower.

I'm not sure of the species either but it looked like "Butter and Eggs."
