Hi Susan,

   There was a thread about this last fall in the archives at

      http://www.mallorn.com/lists/perennials/

   I think the upshot of it all is that E. rugosum 'Chocolate' likes
   moisture and some shade from the afternoon sun, or else it'll 
   start to wilt in warmer climates.  I know that this is true here
   in East Central Illinois.
