RE:Geranium Johnson's Blue

Hi SP!
According to Irene Moss of Highfield Gardens Nursery who grows more hardy
Geraniums than any other nursery I can think of - there are many G.
Johnson's Blue imposters & look alikes being sold out there. The true JB is
sterile, so can't be seed grown - only propagated vegetatively. The JB I
purchased from her (I assume to be the real deal) makes a nice mound but
does have a rather open habit. I can't tell if mine flops because it is
growing at the top of the cottage stone wall around the rockery with several
other hardy geraniums. So maybe they just hold each other up.

SU,
I, too, have the Pat Austin rose next to a lovely Johnson Blue geranium,
with
the Lysimachia 'Purpurea' behind it. Great in theory,( and its still
pretty,
colorwise) but I was very disappointed that the geranium grew to 30" at
least and then just blew apart. It'flopped all over and simply can't be
helped. I didn't expect the shorter J.B. to do this, and this is only its
second year in the garden. Is the geranium you have more compact and mound
forming? Or do I have a poor placement, I wonder. It is in absolutely full
sun.
