RE: Allium

Susan,
Ladies Mantle makes a nice cover for the brown foliage of the Alliums.
Either plant the Ladies Mantle on top of or in front of the Alliums. If
they happen to bloom at the same time, as they are now, the color combo is
wonderful. But the leaves are so pretty on Ladies Mantle, the flowers are
not necessary. In fact, people who worry about the self seeding routinely
cut off the flowers.

You know, I love these guyes. But what do you grow with the "monster" sizes
to hide the dying foliage and to filling the space when they are done? I
suppose some mums may work, but I'd like something airier and frothy
underneath that would bloom either later or at least have decent foliage for
the remainder of the summer.
 What are your suggstions?
