living with peonies

The peonie pictures make me eager to try some new varieties, but I
have a hard time coping witht he 3 I already have. Can anyone clearly
explain how to stake the dang things? The blossoms are far too heavy
to be supported by the stalks dry, and it rains here often. As soon as
the blossom is wet, the weight breaks the stem over anything I have used
to stake the plant. Do tree peonies have similar problems? It seems they
would be an even greater chalange.
