Is this the only year you have had this problem or has it been going on for a
few years?
If the clumps are real large they may need to be divided, but if you have had
a cold wet spring like we did this year-the plants may have just rotted away
while in leaf.
I had some nice large Oriental Poppies come up this spring and with all the
rain and cool weather they just rotted away before they bloomed.
They like a well drained location but with all the water from the sky-that
was not going to happen.
