Kris,
'Painter's Palette' will, once established, seed all over creation.
Seedlings come true and are easy to pull up. Took mine several years
to do this - like I thought it wasn't going to make it for at least 3
years - then, suddenly, I started finding seedlings in odd spots
quite removed from the parent plant. Now, I've got them all over:-)
What corks my bottle is what I paid for the original plant! Yikes!
Teach me to buy something when it's newly on the market:-) This is
definitely and easy propagator:-)
So, to answer your question. I'm not sure I consider them any more
"invasive" than Cleome, which also seeds around, or Digitalis, which
does the same. To me, "invasive" is something you have a hard time
getting rid of that also wants to dominate the world. But, they will
seed. I do not find the adult plants spreading by other means.
No matter what the current bot. name of this plant is, it is one of
the Polygonum tribe and any of these bear watching. Lovely plants,
many of them, but most tend to some type of aggressiveness in my
book. I would not be without those that I have and love, but you
gotta watch them.
