Re: making troughs/ placing troughs

Hello Cheryl,
Looks as though the trough bug is really getting around. My partner
began about two years ago collecting and making here troughs and I began
about a year back.
I was going to make a long arrangement of troughs, sculpture and dwarf
conifers along the parking area near the house, but JoAn kept saying it was
far too busy in appearance for anything I would do.... (that is diplomacy
for she did not like what I was doing;-) I had just made a trip to
Cincinnati, OH to a friend's garden and she had troughs all through her
gardens. I came home and began dismantling my arrangement to begin placing
them along the paths in my garden. Kind of tricky working them in, but think
they look better this way (as in she was right). Now I can present some of
my tiniest gems where they can really be seen up close. Also I can work in a
few plants that I was not growing before due to the sharp drainage that can
be created in a trough.
Check out some of the things JoAn is using in her garden for troughs
besides hypertufa on our web site.
