I'm sorry Susan mine is Deschampsia 'Northern Lights' although I am not familiar with 'Morning Light' they sound similar. Sorry about that.

Hi Susan, I believe it does need more sun to keep its color as mine is consistently pale green, pink and white stripes. I can see why you planted it in shade as the color would be brilliant (as my British neighbor would say) there! I would replace it with Carex 'Bowles Golden' if yellow would work for you as it is fabulous in bright shade.

I planted my Deschampsia against a dark basalt rock wall and it really shows up nice. I think this would also be great against dark green foliage. I am designing a mediterannean garden for a client where this will be used as the base around a dark green very large pot in the middle of a circle courtyard. Anyway the possibilities are endless with this plant, but full sun is best and I think up against a dark background with some back lighting and it is absolutely gorgeous! I love this little grass!

I bought this plant last year and planted it. It survived the winter just fine but seems to be ALL DARK GREEN this year! AAAAh!! If any of you have seen this you know how beautiful it is with pale green, pink and white stripes.

It is on the north side of the house -- does it need more sun to bring out the color or is something nefarious going on? Any help is appreciated.
