I have a wonderful old book by TW Sanders called Rock Gardens and Alpine
Plants. I don't know if it is still available and I'm not sure when mine
was published - the price was orginally 3/6 and I was given it by my
grandmother! It is the most detailed and fascinating book on alpines I have
come across, none of the modern books seem as detailed - although
admittedly I am a newcomer to alpines, having mainly grown herbs and
herbaceous plants previously. AFAIK most of the advice/ techniques haven't
changed. It would be well worth looking out for. Does anyone else like
_old_ gardening books?
