Thanks to all for the suggestions. Some other possibles included
chrysogonum (green-and-gold), and draba siberica--but all 3 of the above
were a little on the prostrate side for what we had in mind.
I did search Infoseek for "corepsis auriculata," and found a couple of
southern nurseries who offer it, so maybe we will try that. (see URLs:
