I moved my poppies after the foliage died down and they did
just fine.  Digging the plant with a big clump of soil around
the roots helps. The thing is that since poppies can be propagated
from root cuttings, some little poppy plants sprang up from bits
of root left in the original spot. I dug these out and transplanted
one but it didn't make it, though friends have had better luck with
these young offspring.  I hear the tip is not to overwater -- water
the transplants once deeply, then not again unless you have a drought.
