Just FYI, Klehm's catalog recommends feeding established peonies only
once, after they bloom, with a good granular 5-10-10 or similar food. 
This is when they are building up the base for the next year's bloom. 
This has worked well for me. Sandier soils might need an additional
feeding or two.
