As my mother in laws 'gardener' in her new home, I wish I could take
credit for this one. ;-)
The bed is only 2 feet deep and 16 feet wide. It borders the outside edge
of her deck.
For winter interest there are some rocks and japanese anemone (they bloom
from November to April during the warm spells, they fade out in our oven
summers) They can hold an aallmmoosstt open bud for several weeks, waiting
for enough warmth.
Then in the center, blooms a mounded 'multiblue' clematis, absolutely
gorgeous.
Now the clematis has whirling seedheads and the daylilies on either side
of it are going full force. Soon a few glads (hardy here) will be blooming.
Not sure if there are any surprises for the late season under the present
foliage.
This was planted at least 5-8 years ago. It's now very full and lush. The
foliage fills the entire 2 foot depth.
