I found a great sale at a local nursery. Seems a young couple w/little
to no gardening experience bought a nursery and are just starting out.
They had a huge area out back w/a bunch of asst'd, mainly one gallon
size plants, all were unmarked, and some were rather straggly, but most
weren't
Here's what I got:
white salvia (I think, sure looks like salvia)
three pots of really nice heliotrope
weigelia (sp?, two one gallong pots)
dianthus (4 pots of the dark purple/magenta)
6 pots of iris (the rhizomes are as big as med. size potatos, color
unknown)
chocolate mint (2 pots)
corsican mint
lemon thyme
2 huge shasta daisies (they didn't know what these were? WITH blooming
flowers?)
a 2 gal pot of coreopsis
butterfly bush
red salvia (two big pony packs)
and an odd looking bright green with maroon tip hen & chicks
All in all, it was a very profitable trip for 25 bucks <g>. Thanks to
Zachary, my nursery prowling 8 year old buddy/son who suggested we turn
left instead of right, else we'd never have happened across the place.
It was his suggestion to stop, and I quote "Mom, you know we can just
look..."
